Private Car, Van and Motorbike Rescue

It doesn’t matter whether your problem involves a car, van or motobike. Even if you are towing a caravan or trailer our vehicle recovery service can help. Our first concern is your safety. So when you call our experienced operative will use their experience to assess the problem. Having done that they will then minimize any risk to you and your vehicle while you wait for us to arrive.

Breakdown Rescue on a Motorway or Smart Motorway

The safety of you and your passengers is priority number 1. Switch on your left indicator straight away. Wherever possible guide your vehicle safely to the left part of the hard shoulder. In the case of a smart motorway then aim for the nearest emeregency refuge area (ERG). Once parked switch on your hazard lights immediately. it is safe to to exit the vehicle, do so and seek refuge behind the safety barrier if there is oner.

Call National Highways first on 0300 123 5000. Then call JJ Recovery for further advice and our recovery service on 07931 158150. If your mobile is not working the ERG on a smart motorway should have an emergency phone that you can use.

If you have a dog with you, ensure it is secured on a lead. Never attempt to cross any lane of tthe motorway, no matter how far off the traffic is. It can be extremely diffiulct to judge the speed of any oncoming traffic compared to a normal road. Never stand with your back to the oncoming traffic. It is dangerous to do so as you cannot see another vehicle in difficulty that is heading towards your or your car.

Breakdown Rescue Elsewhere

Whether you are in a busy location, a remote country road or even at home ane need to get to a garage, JJ Recovery breakdown rescue can help. Make sure your car is parked in a safest possible manner if you can manouver it. Use the appropriate indicator to do so before moving the vehicle. Once stopped in the place least likely to cause disruption to other traffic switch on your hazard lights. Get your passengers to a safe place outside of the vehicle if possible. Preferably do so by using the doors opening onto a pavement or verge rather than the traffic.

If possible avoid the dangerous places as specified in the Highway code such as on or close to a bend. As the driver wait in a safe place close to the car at the time we have advised we will arrive so our driver can contact you straight away. Always make your phone calls from a safe place and do not turn your back on oncoming traffic.
